Frequently Asked Questions
A dog’s nose is thousands of times more sensitive than a human’s. Our modern world is saturated with added perfumes and artificial fragrances, overwhelming dogs and soaking them in chemicals. Traditional grooming compounds this problem by piling on even more fragrances and spritzing dogs in colognes. PV Bark provides a superior alternative. We are the area’s only low-fragrance facility. We deliberately select everything used in our facility, from cleaning the equipment to cleaning the pets, to ensure that they alleviate the burden on sensitive noses and do not irritate skin.
Of course. Call (928) 641-BARK and we will be happy to add grooming on to your pet’s stay.
Grooming salons are high-traffic, high-humidity environments, visited by many pets each day. Thus, every pet who enters the salon risks exposure. Therefore, PV Bark requires that all pets who avail of our grooming services are current on their Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines. We highly recommend that pets are also current on their Leptospirosis vaccine. This is to minimize risk to the health of all pets visiting PV Bark.
Titers are tests performed to verify the presence of antibodies in the blood. Veterinarians may use this information to evaluate a dog’s immune system and design a vaccination protocol for that pet. Today, it is possible to get titers for Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Adenovirus. However, there is currently no way to titer for Bordetella or Leptospirosis. The accuracy of the titer results depends entirely on the caliber of the lab performing the testing.
When pets enter community environments such as pet care facilities, dog parks, or even crowded streets, they are exposed to highly contagious, and sometimes deadly, diseases. Some of these diseases can be transmitted to humans and can be just as deadly to us as to our pets. Vaccinating your pet helps protect them, and you, from these diseases.
PV Bark has discussed the pros and cons of vaccinating pets with pet parents and with veterinarians. We empathize with pet parents who choose to not vaccinate their pets. However, PV Bark is a pet community environment, visited by many pets each day. We believe that pets are put at high risk if they enter PV Bark without first being vaccinated. Additionally, PV Bark has a responsibility to help protect our staff from the diseases that are transmissible to humans from the pets that visit the facility.
Therefore, PV Bark requires that all pets visiting our facility are current on their Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. We highly recommend that pets are also current on their Leptospirosis vaccine. PV Bark does not accept titer results in lieu of vaccination records.
No, we do not accept records of vaccinations administered at home. PV Bark requires that all vaccines be administered by a veterinarian because they are educated on maintaining the cold chain of the vaccine, ensuring that it is viable, and effective, when administered. Unfortunately, when somebody buys a vaccine from a store, they cannot be certain that the vaccine was always kept at the appropriate temperatures required to keep it viable.
